SPA to sponsor SFHA’s Energy Conference

SFHA has announced that SPA, Changeworks and Warmworks will sponsor its upcoming virtual Energy Conference.

The conference, taking place on Tuesday 21 September, will explore practical solutions to improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions in the social housing sector.

Taking place in the lead up to the United Nations’ Climate Change Conference (COP26), SFHA’s event provides an opportunity for the housing sector and energy and sustainability experts to come together to discuss key challenges.

Changeworks is Scotland’s leading environmental charity, delivering positive solutions for low carbon living. They work with organisations to improve energy efficiency, reduce fuel poverty, prevent waste, and inspire low carbon behaviours.

Warmworks is a joint venture partnership between Energy Saving Trust, Changeworks and Everwarm which is committed to promoting affordable warmth and increasing energy efficiency in homes across the country.

Scottish Procurement Alliance (SPA) provides partners – such as councils, housing associations, universities and emergency services – with access to innovative procurement solutions, which aim to drive social value by streamlining construction, refurbishment and maintenance contracts.

The sponsors will join a programme of confirmed speakers in responding to the key challenges being faced by the sector as part of the transition to a ‘net-zero nation’ and offer insight into how these can be addressed in a just and fair way.

Clive Feeney, Director of SPA said: “SPA are proud to continue our support of SFHA’s Energy Conference as a headline sponsors alongside Changeworks and Warmworks.

“At SPA we are committed to helping housing associations work towards Scottish Government’s Net Zero and de-carbonisation targets. Our team will be on hand for attendees to discuss their procurement and project plans to enhance the energy efficiency of their stock.”

Teresa Bray, Changeworks’ Chief Executive, Changeworks said:

"We're delighted to be continuing our partnership with SFHA by sponsoring the Energy Conference. From our work with housing associations across Scotland, we know the unique pressures and demands they are facing – and we're ready to help them do their bit to tackle the climate emergency.

"Changeworks works with housing associations to create warmer homes and more secure tenants. We can support you to access funding to make improvements, manage installations, and engage tenants in the process. We look forward to talking to members at the conference about all the ways we can help.”

Ross Armstrong, Managing Director of Warmworks said: “For the last six years, Warmworks Scotland has managed the Scottish Government’s successful Warmer Homes Scotland scheme across the country. The scheme has already provided energy efficient heating and insulation to more than 22,000 homes and helped families save an average of more than £300 per year off their energy bills.

“I’m delighted that Warmworks is able to join the headline sponsors of SFHA’s Energy Conference as we look to expand and develop our work with Housing Associations across the social housing sector. This is a key focus as we aim to promote increases in domestic energy efficiency and low carbon technologies; helping households in or at risk of fuel poverty to save money in a sustainable way.”
