Showing our support for Lintel Trust's Annual Charity Golf Day
Last Friday (30th June), Lintel Trust held its Annual Charity Golf Day at the stunning Auchterarder Golf Club in Perthshire.
It was more than just a day on the green, Lintel Trust's Annual Charity Golf Day at Auchterarder Golf Club on Friday brought together 20 teams and 80 players to raise vital funds for their Small Grants Fund, directly benefiting Scottish communities.
At first, the weather looked fairly sketchy, but it soon brightened. Some strong winds remained, adding further challenge to the course, but this clearly didn’t impact the players. Three hole-in-ones were recorded by the teams, a record so rare that even the seasoned members and staff at Auchterarder rarely witness!
There was a flurry of celebrations, including the DMI Fire and Security team winning the Lintel Trust Cup, as well as a 70th birthday announcement.
All of the funds raised will be used for Lintel Trust’s Small Grants Fund, which provides local community groups and charities with access to between £500 and £1,000 per project that helps to address smaller community requirements.
Typically, the fund supports housing community projects that tackle social isolation, promote digital participation, encourage people to live independently in their own homes and assist people moving from homelessness into a secure and sustainable tenancy.
Recently, Aberdeenshire Council were awarded £1,000 for its sheltered housing tenants forums to expand digital connectivity programmes and social engagement for its service users. Several years ago, 56 sheltered housing complexes received smart devices donated by a selection of companies.
Of those 56 sheltered housing sites, only 15 are connected with wifi or have a data SIM plan. The funds awarded enabled the council to purchase SIM cards to bring these devices back online as well as provide training to the service users who require a bit more support.
We were thrilled to be involved with this event that is having a valuable impact on Scottish communities and helping to kickstart much broader initiatives.
