Energy Efficiency Workshop: Exploring Funding, Past Projects, Current Challenges and Solutions
Transforming the way we heat and insulate Scotland’s homes and buildings will play a key part in addressing fuel poverty and minimising our contribution to climate change. In Scotland, we’re facing an energy crisis, a housing crisis, a climate crisis and a cost-of-living crisis that is hitting tenants and communities hard.
Scottish Government estimate that there are around 860,000 fuel-poor households, of which 600,000 will be in extreme fuel poverty. This equates to 24% of the Scottish population. Amidst a looming recession with analysts predicting it to be the deepest and longest recession ever seen since records began. The need to create energy-efficient homes is more urgent than ever.
Retrofitting our homes and buildings is one of the best ways to reduce energy needs, lower household bills, keep people warm and cut Scotland’s emissions – of which account for a fifth of Scotland’s greenhouse gas emissions.
On Wednesday 1st March from 9:00am until 3:00pm we will be hosting a workshop in our Livingston office to explore the grant funding streams available and cover the application process, we will look at the measures available through our existing frameworks including the consultancy services. You will have an opportunity to meet with the suppliers delivering energy efficiency projects on our frameworks and gain insight into live projects covering both single and multiple measures featuring guest speakers including The Energy Agency.
This workshop will also be an opportunity for us to launch an early pre-tender engagement session to discuss the proposals for the next iteration of the whole house refurbishment and energy efficiency frameworks. It’s important to get your thoughts on the structure and contents of the framework alongside understanding your project plans and the challenges you are experiencing. This knowledge will provide us with insight to formulate a framework that is suitable and relevant to your future requirements.
