Twenty-eight mid market rented homes are coming to Midlothian
Twenty-eight mid-market rented homes will be produced in Midlothian for Melville Housing Association by McTaggart Construction.
Situated on the former Newbattle High School in Easthouses, Midlothian, will feature a mixture of terrace houses, cottage flats and a flatter block, all designed to achieve high level of sustainability and accessibility.
For the first time, the housing association will be working with McTaggart Construction on this build. Awarded using SPA’s H2 New Build Housing framework.
The development will provide safe, affordable, well-built and attractive housing, creating a positive impact on the local community. The design incorporates a well-considered streetscape with secure pedestrian connections, appropriate levels of car parking and high quality landscaping that enhances the local environment.
Beyond the construction phase, both organisations will actively contribute to the broader Newbattle community through strategic partnership initiatives, dedicated volunteering programmes and in-kind support services.
The H2 framework from SPA provides access to a wide range of experts to design, build, refurbish, adapt and extend housing for residential use. It also contains the option for groundworks, demolition, decontamination and relevant site enabling works such as creation of access routes, utilities etc.
